Eloise, de permanente bewoonster van het Plaza Hotel

Eloise is het zes jaar oude dochtertje van rijke ouders. Ze leeft met haar schildpad (Skipperdee), hondje (Weenie) en Nanny op de tippy-top floor van het Plaza Hotel. Haar moeder gaat vaak naar Europa en heeft AT & T aandelen. Daarom zorgt Nanny voor haar. Als Eloise ziek is, dan wordt er long distance naar haar moeder gebeld.

There are absolutely nothing than rooms in the Plaza. Oooooooooooooooo I absolutely love the Plaza.

Het is een zeer ondeugend meisje dat allerlei kattekwaad uithaalt in het chique hotel.

"If I want to go anywhere I simply take the elevator. For instance if I happen to be on the second floor I just press that button until it comes up and as soon as that door is open I get in and say: "5^th floor please". When those doors clank shut we ride up and I get out on the 5^th floor and as soon as that elevator is out of sight I skibble up those stairs to the 8^th floor and then I press that button and when that same elevator comes up and as soon as that door is open I get in and say: "15^th floor please" and then when  those doors clank shut we ride up and I get out on the 15^th floor and as soon as that elevator is out of sight I skibble up to the 12^th floor and then I press that button and when that same elevator comes up and as soon as that door is open I get in and say: "The lobby please". And when I get there I go to the next elevator and go all the way up".

Roomservice brengt haar het eten.

"Ooooo I absolutely love Room Service. They always know its me".
And René always says: "Bonjour Eloise, voici votre petit déjeuner".
Nanny always answers: "My my my doesn't that look good!"
And I always say: "Bonjour René, merci and charge it please".

In de lobby van het hotel hing een portret van Eloise (zie foto hierboven). Dat verdween na een party. Het verhaal gaat dat Prinses Grace met haar kinderen door het hotel liep en zeer ontdaan was over het verdwijnen van het portret. Ze gaf opdracht aan de schilder van het oorspronkelijke portrait om een nieuw schilderij te maken dat weer in het Plaza Hotel kwam te hangen. In het hotel was een briefkaart te koop van het portrait.

I often go to the 6^th floor and see what everybody's thrown away and if I want it or not, like ribbon or something like that.

Gedurende jaren, als je het hotel belde en je vroeg naar Eloise, dan kreeg je een niet bestaand klein meisje aan de telefoon ....??? En generaties van moeders en oma's bezochten het Plaza Hotel met hun (klein)dochters. Ze wilden graag het portrait zien van Eloise en dronken thee in the Palm Court.
